9th Grade Algebra teacher Mrs. Stewart at Desert Pines High School is a very positive person to be around with. This interview is based on her because, she has history of being in the Army and being a cheerleader in her high school days. She’s also from the state of Washington and came to Nevada after her years in the Army. Stewart is originally born and raised in the sunny California but spend most of her life in Washington because she was stationed there. Today she is now an Algebra teacher in DPHS and plans on staying a teacher for a couple of years.

Mariana Delgado: What inspired you to join the Army?

Angela Stewart: I joined the Army because my dad was in and it would pay for college.

MD: Since you’re from the state of Washington, what made you move all the way to Nevada?

AS: I was stationed in Washington when i got out of the Army and attended college there. I got a teaching job and stayed. After 25 years of rain and grey skies were too much. I am originally from California and love the sun and heat. California is very expensive to live when you are relocating so I had been coming to Las Vegas 3 times a year for the past 3 years and really liked it.

MD: If you had the chance to go back in time, what is one thing that you would change in your life? Why?

AS: I would change how i treated my parents my junior and senior years of high school. My dad got orders to move from California to Utah and I was not happy and I made sure they knew all the time til’ I joined the Army and got out of Utah.

MD: Which family member has helped you out through your ups and downs? Do you look up to them as a role model? Why? And, who motivates you in a daily basis?

AS: Both my parents have been there through my ups and downs. They are both amazing role models. The one and only Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior.
