Spring musical opens this week
April 4, 2022
The Desert Pines Theater Department is hosting a new show coming up this week, called You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.
Ms. Liz Smith, the director, told the Jaguar Post that most of the students know the Charlie Brown character, and would probably have fun seeing him in a new light.
“It’s a great introduction to the musical,” Smith said. “It’s fun and short and it will leave you with a smile on your face.”
Although the musical is being advertised around the school, some students claim to not have heard about it.
Joseph Beltran, a sophomore at Desert Pines, was one of those students.
“I had no idea,” Beltran said. “I never heard of it. I never knew that there was a Charlie Brown Musical.”
According to Ms. Smith, the show became a musical back in 1967 after making the release of a comic and a movie with the same name. The Broadway musical was first produced in 1971.
Symone Nolen, a freshman at Desert Pines said that she might go see the musical.
“I plan to, but I don’t know if I will be able to,” Nolen said.
She also tells the Jaguar Post that if she goes, she would be going with her friends.
You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown opens on April 5th through April 7th. Tickets are $7. Students can pay at the door or you can online at showtickets.com.
